Harstena village
	The island is a sight in itself with its genuine archipelago buildings. The older houses date back to the 18th century. Most of them are located on the hills in a circle around the flat meadow where they still make hay. This despite the fact that the animals have been moved to the mainland and only visit Harstena for summer grazing.

The seal processing factory

As a reminder of times that have passed this old seal processing factory is left standing on the cape furthest out towards the sea. One used to club the seals, a method used since time immemorial, not only here but around the world. Hunting seals is no longer allowed but there are still many memorials from those days preserved. During the summer the seal processing factory is open every day between 12.00 - 15.00. See no 8 on the key map.

Water lilys
	Also worth seeing are the red water lilies in Djupdalen, the small watercourse on the east side of the island. See no 6 on the key map. It is indeed a truly remarkable sight to behold the rare flowers where they float in great numbers on the water surface, the lush green circles of the leaves and the bright red of the flowers.

The village school

The school house was constructed in 1921. Before that, school teaching was conducted in the other village houses. The school activity ceased in 1965 and the building is now used for gatherings and a small museum has been set up under the management of the village school association. Here the history of the village is illustrated with old everyday articles, documents and a large number of pictures. During the summer the museum is open every day between 12.00 and 15.00.
