Midsummer celebrations

Celebrating Midsummer in the archipelago is for many an important tradition. This is usually the weekend when the most people visit the island.

The celebrations of Midsummer's Eve traditionally starts at 15.00 with the rising of the village pole on the hill "Stångberget" and the hoisting of the village flag. The Midsummer pole is covered with leaves (around 15.30) at the meadow by the pump and is then carried away towards the school where it is raised and then the games and dancing may begin. Collect leaves and flowers for the pole in advance. All are welcome to decorate, carry, raise, play and finally dance around the pole.

For those without the energy to run around it is allowed to simply sit on the grass and enjoy whatever you brought in your picnic basket and watch the dancing.
